In another life
I will reincarnate as a tree
An olive one specifically.
In the middle of a park
Shade to children and lovers
Home to birds and others
That find warmth and comfort
A mere blanket of leaves
Passersby would gaze
Watch my long branches sway
The ones that I extend
To reach to the ends
To hold a house for a little sparrow
Who spends her days for tomorrow.
In another life I would be
The olive tree
More specifically, its branches.
The ones I extend
To lovers and to friends
With hope, with compromise
My feeble plea, their forgiveness.
An olive tree, an olive branch
Expanded hearts, extended arms.
